Empowering Families Part 2 with Yolonda Coles Jones

This special episode is part 2 of my interview with Yolonda Coles Jones. Yolonda and I wanted to provide additional support and comfort to those families that are feeling caught up in the waves of the moment. This episode is all about using the tools of connection and presence to bring about calm and well-being. We want families to once again start feeling empowered in their own lives. That means being empowered as a parent, person and learning support.

Yolonda Coles Jones, also known as “The Bringer of Calm” and the “Teacher of Thrive”, is a Healing, Wellness & Empowerment-Centered Coach and Education Consultant who specializes in coming alongside households–families and individuals–as well as teachers and school systems to support them in deepening into conscious connection with themselves and with those around them. From that place she guides and supports in building confidence, developing clarity, realizing calm and implementing strategies for success.

Her trademarked Empowered People formula utilizes a powerfully effective combination of mindful breathing & meditation, conscious communication, somatic (body) awareness, boundary awareness, forgiveness, gratitude, joy and deep self-care all as authentic-to-you and accessible ongoing practices.

The scope of her work covers parenting relationships, parent-child/teacher-child dynamics, self-awareness, marriage and long-term partnerships, infidelity, home-based education and self-actualization.

What You Will Hear In This Episode

In this episode we are talking about wellness, connection and community. These are important because they stand as the basis for our learning life. We are 4 dimensional beings; spiritual (not in a religious sense, but in our being-ness), mental, physical and emotional. All of these dimensions come into play in our learning life and overall wellness.

We explore the many ways that we can build this into our present lives and then re-imagine the life we have ahead of us. How do we want to live it? How do we want to co-create our time together?

Our exploration includes;

  • Community on the micro and macro level. This means starting with ourselves and then move the circle outwards?
  • The language of touch. Especially in this year of physical isolation
  • The power of pause, using our breath, reflection and re-imagining
  • Mindfulness at home
  • Giving thanks and appreciation
  • Grief- touching into the moment, vocalizing it and giving space to say it
  • Marking our space (and therefore our wellness)
  • Taking the time to check-in
  • Having courage and being curious

We end this episode with an offer of peace, calm and reflection through a guided meditation.
